______________________________________________________________________ Home Directory or desktop When you log in, you see a list of the items in your home directory (or desktop). You can open any of these items by typing the number or name of the item. For example, to see a list of all your messages, type MAILBOX. This technique works on individual messages as well. To read a message in your mailbox, type its number (for example, to see message #3, type 3). ____________________ Desktop items You have the following items in your home directory: Mailbox Contains your incoming and outgoing mail. Open this to read your mail and to compose new messages. News A common conference containing items of interest to all users. Conferences Contains the publicly-available conferences. After opening Conferences, open the conference that is of interest to you. You can return to your home directory at any time by typing HOME or DESKTOP at the > prompt.
